Electric car....bah, humbug!

Everyone particularly the PM is excited about the so-called new technologies like the hydro fuel and electric car to the extent of instructing Proton to expedite production of such cars. Old timers like him for sure will be excited since for them they are new technologies but pardon me those have already been around for quite some times especially in the developed nations. Hybrid cars or electric cars are commercially available there but they haven't reach reach user friendly viability or to be precise, money friendly as their costs are still exorbitant and those are produced by well-established manufacturers unlike the greenhorn, Proton.
There are immediate questions which necessitate prompt answers i.e how much will they cost? How reliable are they? Are they viable for hilly and rough terrains in Sabah for instance, or are they talking about Malaysia excluding Sabah and Sarawak? Looking at it's size, the locally made hybrid car is not suitable for family and for commercial as well as rough terrain. How are they going to go about these situations if they were to commercially produce such cars?
Looking and analysing the government approaches in lessening the people's burden of the skyrocketing oil price, it is clear that they themselves are lost in the twilight zone with no chance of finding the real solutions. What they have been doing and proposing are laughable and thus negligible thus proving that they are worthless and incapable of ruling the nation. While they especially the PM were saying that they were taking unpopular moves but in fact they are doing the opposite by maintaining their popularity among their cronies and ironically the foreigners who are still enjoying subsidised petrol as the dual pump system is yet to materialised. Oil price hike has long been criticised as being unwise not only by the Opposition but within UMNO rank and file itself.

Throw away the newspapers!

Some people particularly the old timers including those in power are suffering from some kind of Internet phobia since they mistakenly perceive that the Internet is responsible for what they wrongly assume to be lies, slander and the like. Thus, they offer advices like don't believe the Internet as it a tool by unscrupulous Opposition. What a joke and clearly shows that they are naive and belong to the old timer generation.

They see the Internet especially blogs as slander or lie mongers manipulating the public to distrust the government, which for them is above the rest free from errors. Well, I beg to differ since the inception of the Internet and the flourishing of blogging, Malaysians including me are being presented with the views of the other side and not only a bias stand of the ruling coalition. In the 80's and 90's when Internet is still alien to many of us the so-called major or prime medias like the newspapers remain the only source of reporting and information to the mass. Those newspapers are in turn controlled by the government through various unfair and bias reporting. They pictured the Opposition or their sympathisers as villains to the core. Figures like LKS, the late Haji Yusof Rawa, the late Hj. Fadzil Noor are the enemies of the people since according to the only available medias they were always against the government (read ruling coalition). Thus, the public including myself as naive as we were and compounded by the lack of secondary views were unduly influenced by those kind of reporting.

I am not saying that whatever the Opposition leaders are saying as the absolute truth since there are some of their views which I feel otherwise. Nonetheless, the Internet provides the only channel and venue for the mass to know the views of the Opposition since it is the only venue for them to defend themselves from the onslaught by the ruling coalition. Besides, the coalition-controlled medias themselves have acted beyond their duties by being the prosecutors and judges of the Opposition. They incite and cultivate hatred against those whose views are different from their by labelling them as enemies of the people or worst spies of foreign government.

While the prime medias advise the mass not to deal in lies and the like, they too are actually dealing freely in degrading others which later on backfired just like the private jet issue by the Kedah MB, the pig farms in Selangor and many others which are savagely distorted and twisted. While they seem to allow some breathing spaces to the Opposition they practise selective reporting; publishing and airing only those sentences which sound in the coalition's favour and for sure reported out of context and therefore resulted in confusion among the public.

Giving them benefit of the doubts, they are committing all those lies and distortion for their survival as well as their master's but for several years now they are no longer enjoying the status as the preferred choice of information as a more non partisan and neutral or at least spaces for the other side to share their views and defend themselves. Looking at what happened after the debate between ASC and AI, even Ku Li too seemed to agree with AI's idea of reducing the oil prices - it is indeed a practical idea after all!

Trust is D.E.A.D

In his last post before his untimely demise, Pak Rustam shared his concern about the withering trust within the society. His posting, Trust is dead but hope is still alive succinctly potrays our current situation although the higher ups are still denying it for fear of losing their grip on slipping power.
They tried to show and console the public that there will not be conspiracy and cover ups in the never ending Anwar Ibrahim saga but will the public believe them after what happened in 1998 and the way they arte dealing with the current situation? I really doubt it since almost all government machineries are tainted or at least being connected with serious abuse of power and corruption. At least one of them is dealing directly with the on going investigation of the exciting yet tiring Anwar Saga.
PDRM is headed by one who is being implicated by Anwar during his 1998 trial thus how will the right thinking Malaysians particularly those non partisan to believe and trust the outcomes of the on going investigation? Although, they might be doing their job professionally but cloud of thickening doubts will always haunt them even untiul everything is demmed concluded. People will continue to talk about it since their image is already tainted at least for the past ten years after they bungled over the sodomy trial back in 1998.
Trust, being a pivotal part in life especially in police work should never been 'raped' particularly by those in power as once the public lost their trust in the integrity of the police force then it will take years or even impossible to regain their trust. In short, it is an irreparable damage unless the present authority takes the bold step to ameliorate the situation by for instance relieving themselves of the power they now hold albeit its slipping away. Such will never happened in Malaysia since accountability is not one of our leaders treasured trait.
Whatever the outvcomes of the investigation, people will still talk about it though Anwar is freed from all charges. Things will become more chaotic and confusing if the so called investigation find prima facie case against Anwar. Such misfortune can be avoided if the authority uphold their integrity and accountability f rom the very beginning of this confusing chain of events. I blame the authority for whatever the outcomes of the saga since trust is already dead!

Lies or is it?

A few days ago, one private TV station did a special issue on the danger of lies, hearsay and defamation with reference for the nation confusing political scenes particularly (as they averred) the lies spread by the Opposition in view of the recent allegation of sodomy hurled against the former DPM.

It was indeed an exposure which exposed the double standard and selective reporting of the TV station which by the way has lost its grandeur for quite some times not only because of their bias reporting but also the quality of their reporting especially by their 'green' newscasters unlike the predecessors. While they advised the public of not divulging and believing in lies they themselves are bent towards spreading lies which they proclaimed as the truth, as if the people are stupid and naive to believe them.

They were fast to expose any purported misdeeds by the Opposition just like the so called threat by the PAS lead government of Kedah to log at water catchment areas if the Federal did not concede to their demand of 100 millions compensation and the so called abuse of public money by also the Kedah government by renting private jets. All had been successfully debunked by the respective authority.

The Internet is indeed a much sought after medium to check the validity of reports by such irresponsible media corporation owned by the ruling party. They to a very much extent was worst than the government owned media since they are directly under control and supervision of the party which has been suffering from delusions and waning support. Thanks to the Internet which at least provide second opinions and views of the other sides. Many if not all major news providers today are only highlighting one part or side of the whole picture without giving the aggrieved party any chance of telling their side of the story. They will do anything just to ensure that the ruling coalition remains in power as can bee seen in their recent attack on the burgeoning People's Pact, now all are saying that PAS as being disillusioned of the role on PR and are reviewing their position. Being a political entity and experienced PAS must be realistic as they can't struggle and achieve their objectives by being alone.

Again, thanks to the inception of the Internet, people is able to practise their minds as to who is telling the truth and who is actually telling the lies. Such feat is not available under the former regime which attributed to their strong position through arm twisting and iron fist style of governance. Nonetheless, I truly believe that such freedom may remain a dream if we are still ruled by the former regime. For this and for now, I sincerely thank AAB for his openness.

Warkah Terbuka Buat Pemimpin

Assalamualaikum,

THE PERFECT LAW

I am getting confused and wary of our current situation since everybody and everyone who are calling themselves as the defender and champion of the people while at the same time they are actually just doing lip services and vigorously safeguarding their self interests.

This could be liken to the time after the Prophet demise when all his disciples going at each other struggling to uphold what they believe in but they are lucky since they are directly educated by none other than the Prophet himself therefore what they are doing is indeed in line with what they are educated. They are different from us today since we are not fully educated. We don't have the intelligence of Ijtihad since our education is not that deep.
However, being the naive man as I am I believe I can still practise my judgment to choose between good and bad , the truth and otherwise. Being a Believer in Islam the only possible way out is by following and adhering to Islamic tenets not by using or practising man-made law since it is prone to bias.
If Anwar is innocent the only way out is for him to swear and declare upon Allah's greatness that he has nothing to do with the new charge against him and I believe he is a staunch Islamist therefore he knows the repercussions he'll encounter here and hereafter if he lies. The same goes to the government, if the PM and DPM are willing to swear upon Allah's name that what they are doing is correct and true, therefore I will willingly believe in them.

Then, what will happen if both sides swear that they are telling the truth? It looks complicated but it is not since we have the Shariah and Hudud laws and it is the right time to uphold the laws since all parties belong to the Islamic faith. Anybody who are found to lie will have to be severely punished under Islamic laws under which they are being adjudged.

Nobody should argue with this simple logic since our own man-made laws and judiciary system are no longer have their credibility and even the government admits as such. It is sad even more if the opposition comes from Muslims themselves as if to detract from their vows that Islam is the perfect religion as mentioned not by the Prophet but by Allah Himself. As such, I rest my case.

Be Civil!

I have been away for about three days and so many outrageous things have happened since then. First was the defeat of the Germans in the Euro 2008 Final though I wasn't really fond of them but they were my third or fourth favourite.

Most shockingly of course was the new allegation of unnatural sexual conduct by Anwar's aide against him which of course is the topic of the day. Actually, I'd heard snippets of the news on Sunday night but I thought it was about RPK since I heard or overheard from my neighbour's t.v (We don't have one in K.K) about police report. It was a shock to me when my wife told me the next day on our way to K.K but as I said to her I am not that surprised if the same thing happen again since sexual misconduct has been a stigma in DSAI's political life.

It is indeed sad to see, hear and experience these lowly conduct by some just to cling to power which is not theirs for life. Malaysia, once a very respected nation has succumbed to be the likes of third world and poor nations just because of power. Politicians should portray a very high standard code of ethics or as laymen would understand they should at all time be civil in their daily conduct.

I am not insinuating anything but in other countries, the army may have overthrown such filthy government for the sake of the people but again power is like drug which can intoxicate and gradually bring irreversible destruction.

We pray to the Almighty to safeguard our nation's prosperity and well being well into future generations. For those filthy politicians, behave yourselves as you'll be accountable for what you did or fail to do!
