YANG BERANI aka YB

Possible petition to British gov't from Sabahans
A Sabah group is taking a page from Hindraf's book - it is seriously considering petitioning the British government on the situation of illegal migrants in the state.Having seen their proposal for a royal commission to probe the issue of illegal immigrants in the state rebuffed by BN lawmakers, they are exploring the possibility of filing a petition to Britain through the Commonwealth office.
The word rebuffed ignites disappointments, anger and sadness since many of those BN backbenchers are Sabahans who of late have been very vocal in voicing out the mistreatment of the Federal government towards the State, yet they rejected such motion to thoroughly look into the problem only because it originated from the Opposition.
Then, if they care for Sabah and its legal occupants then why in the first instance they themselves do not table such motion in the august House? Why are they so afraid of doing something that will save their land and if popularity and fame are things they are seeking for then by tabling such motion, they will become heroes and statesmen altogether among fellow Sabahans. If they table the motion and later rejected by the House then the people they represent will realise that they are the true heroes and we will know our exact status within the Federation. Are we the bastard sons or not?

Appealing to the British government though a good intention but it will never serve the purpose they are intending it to be since Malaysia is a sovereign country at least since 1963 thus Britain hasd no jurisdiction over matters concerning Malaysia as international law goes. Such desperate action will only complicates the already bizarre scenario. Britain being a former colonial power should never be trusted since they will always have ulterior motives which at the end make Sabah and Sabahans losers. What happened to Palestine when Britain sanctioned the foundation and establishment of a Zionist nation in Israel in 1948.

Since they do not have any direct control over Sabah after it's independence in 1963 then they will have no interest and the necessary compassion over the plights beleaguering the people and the end result will be something that we are not expecting for instance they may say that since those illegals come from a place which once had the sovereignty over Sabah then they are not illegals and the Sabahans are themselves illegals. Such observation may be short sighted and ridiculous but it can happen and will happen if those people proceed with their intention.
What needs to be done is actually very clear and simple - Sabahans need to be united irrespective of their races, faiths or political beliefs. Saying that Sabah is being marginalised but doing the opposite will not help to solve our problem. For the YBs walk the talk and be brave to stand up for our rights as equal partner in this beloved nation of ours. Anifah Aman, Ghapur Salleh and especially Big Brother Bung be true leaders of the people and again walk the talk!
