Twisted Tongue - A Defect Sought After by Politicians

When a few elected Representatives decide to turn froggers, the ruling coalition headed by the Prime Minister-in waiting bulldozes everything to install a new Menteri Besar. However, when the Perak Speaker decides to convene a special session this coming Tuesday he suddenly says halt!There is the court case against the validity of Dr. Zambry as the Menteri Besar! Double standard, twisted and cunning all in one.

He should have think like what he says today before deciding to 'show' who is in control when those froggers abandon their principles weeks ago. He should refrain Dr. Zambry from taking over and assume the job since Ir. Hj. Nizar has brought the case before the court. Now, being a 'true' politician with twisted mind and tongue, he seems to agree that everything should stand as it is before the coup on February 6.

Ir. Hj. Nizar and his legally constituted Councillors should be allowed to resume and therefore function as usual rather than allowing an illegal government put in place and conduct business as if they have the authority. Although, the case has yet to be decided but like in other cases where there's a dispute on its legality and validity, the previous authority should continue to function until the case has exhaustively decided by the court. Now, the pretenders are free to do as they please including granting contracts but what are their status let say after the court decides that the previous government is the rightful one? Effectively any contracts entered into by the pretenders are null and void thus those who have entered into those agreements are entitled to sue or just abscond the contracts since they are null and void. Again, what about payments which have been disbursed by virtue of those illegal contracts?

Ir. Hj. Nizar should asks for an injunction to stop the pretenders from assuming the duties of a truly legal government. His refusal to surrender the key to the MB's official car is significant and should not be viewed negatively since he is still the rightful MB and any acts on his part forfeiting any rights or privileges in relation to the MB's post can be deemed as resignation or voluntarily surrender the post to the pretender, Dr. Zambry.

Looking at the Prime Minister - in waiting indeed gives credence to this opinion that everything should stay as they are before the emplacement of those pretenders. The view that the Speaker has no authority to convene the emergency sitting and suspension of the pretenders to the government has no bearing since the Speaker and the Assembly are different from the Executive based on the doctrine of separation of power where the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary are three separate entities.

The view that the Speaker is automatically ceases to function after a new government is emplaced cannot stand by virtue of the doctrine of separation of power and the fact that the post depends on the Legislative Assembly instead of the Executive. There is only a change of government ( if it is valid) but nothing has change in relation to the Legislative Assembly since the House has yet to convene after the illegal power transfer.

Again, the suspension of the pretenders though seem malicious but it is valid just like what the Parliament Speaker has done countless times upon the Opposition Members. the Prime Minister's advice to the MB pretender to make a police report as many have said is laughable. The police has no authority to act since whatever happen within the House remain within the House. If the Police has a say to the matter it contravenes once again with the separation of power doctrine and the intention of the Legislators in enacting the law making them immune from prosecution as long as what they do are doing in the House.

I may be wrong in my observation but again after reading and listening to the Prime Minister-in waiting's statement, I truly believe that mine should stand. Being a leader and not merely a leader but as a Muslim Prime Minister-in waiting therefore he should be true to his words and don't manipulate the situation including the nation's laws to his and his coalition's advantage.

A colleague of mine poses this with a serious face - Who do you prefer Bumiputeras or those Non Bumis as our leaders? Such comes about when another colleague 'critically' share his piece of mind (based on a television talk-show) that the Rulers need to be grateful and therefore should at least act impartially when it comes to controversial issue like politics.

I do not pay much attention as I truly believe in the old adage, "Raja Adil Raja Disembah, Raja Zalim Raja Disanggah". Leaders are supposed to be fair and just in their dealings with their subjects since they are actually at the mercy of the people. Unlike political leaders, Rulers are who they are hereditarily and therefore lacks the real and actual authority over the People. The least they should do is to be on the fence by not siding with any political organisations. Individually, they should be allowed to affiliate themselves with any political entities but again being a Ruler one cannot separate himself between his personal being and a Ruler - it is impossible one may say!

Coming back to my colleague question, a statement really since he utters it in a very forceful manner. Indeed, I am with him that the Bumis should be the leaders since they are the son of the soil, natives of the land. Therefore, it is only logically that natives should take preference over others. Nonetheless, every general rule there will be some very special exceptions. These are to safeguard the well-being, interest and uphold justice and fairness to the minority as well as the majority.

In any circumstances, having control or priority above others will likely lead to abuse since they are in control. This is what has happened, is happening and thus will continue to happen if Malaysians including the Bumis are not careful or having lackadaisical view over some overbearing Bumi leaders. This observation is not without proofs since we can see many of our Bumi leaders are living beyond the reach of even fellow Bumis. While the majority of their fellow Bumis are severely affected by the economic down turn but many Bumi leaders are living in relative luxury and sadly they even have the audacity to call their fellow non leaders (read middle class and lower natives) to be prudent in spending while those leaders keep flouting their extravagance before those unfortunate natives.

Bumi leaders from Sabah for instance are responsible to the erosion of Sabah's rights and privileges under the Federal Constitution either by clear consent or otherwise through their tacit and clear ignorance. They let other fellow Bumi leaders substitute, amend and worst of all cancel and nullify those rights and privileges of Malaysians in Sabah. This is even admitted by non other than Datuk Masidi Manjun, a Bumi leader from the Ranau valley.

Therefore, I qualify my support to Bumiputera as leaders by virtue of them being one of the natives. Their clear transgression and flouting the laws have obviously put their fellow natives at a disadvantage. Being Muslims for instance they flout the prohibition of taking bribes , abuse of powers or indulging in unruly behaviours like drinking and involving in illicit relations. How can we trust them to be our leaders just because they are one of us,natives if they blatantly disregard the do's and dont's both under the law and the Shariah?

Other non Muslims leaders are even better in terms of propagating and helping the Muslims though they do not belong to the same faith. Yes, their intention may be suspect but at least they before everyone is showing the respect Islam deserves unlike some Muslim Bumi leaders. Playing the racial or faith cards are certainly risky but we no longer live in the past where blind obedience rules and leaders are above criticism.

How could we trust those who are supposed to look after the welfare and well being of Islam and its believers when they themselves indulge freely and in the open in activities clearly transgress the boundary allowed by Islam? They consume alcohol though it is forbidden and males adorn jewelleries made from gold are only instances of their blatant disrespect of their own faith whom the People have entrusted upon them to safeguard. If we are to prefer them for instance as the lesser than two evils but at the same time keeping our silence and being dormant then we are actually contributing towards the demise of Islam.

Today we have alternatives whereby there exist another group of native leaders who are learning the twist and turns or political existence and co-operation among those belonging to extreme ends. So far, they have progressed in great strides making the existing leadership uneasy. Thus, to stop the increasing support for the alternatives they revert to smear campaign by sowing fear and discontent that by empowering the alternatives the natives will lose everything they have for so long enjoyed.

Such political manipulation is indeed ingenious thus many have fallen into its intricate web of deception while the current leadership continue to flout every known rule and regulation including those provided under Shariah. What they have done so far are merely acts of sabotaging the rule of law and Islam itself. For instance, they are responsible in portraying Hudud as merely about cutting off thieves' hands. Instead of educating and helping the scholars to present a clear picture that Islam is a perfect and universal religion encapsulating all, they keep on harping on the issue that Shariah is not suitable for a multi-racial nation like Malaysia.

Islam is about everything and suddenly I remember a Syarie counsellor colleague of mine who has been criticised by many for defending or rather representing a Murtad wannabe. Everyone deserves a fair trial and I'm sure that is the intention of my colleague nothing more. At least by doing so he is portraying that Islam is fair and everyone deserves a fair trail. He is not the court but he is merely an officer of the court whose function is to assist the court to arrive at a just and fair conclusion. What he does needs courage which I personally don't have. At least he is not a hypocrite compared to some leaders who pretend to be pious but in private they become totally different persons. With that statement, I humbly rest my case...

Every civil servant@ government employee is subject o the General Orders which necessitates him or her to be impartial or neutral politically. Therefore, he or she cannot associate him or herself with any political affiliations lest him or her risks being disciplined. The purpose of such ruling is to ensure that those employees are focused and dedicated to their task so that they can deliver. Nonetheless, such is not the norm nowadays as such is a right provided and protected by the Federal Constitution. Indeed, if one is to bring the case to the court, the court will see such 'prohibition' as an infringement to one's liberty. One thing for sure - thousands will be affected if such rule is strictly enforced! Both government and opposition leaning.

There is a misconception by many that the government is the same with the political organisation that is controlling it. Therefore, obedience to the government means obedience to the political entity, any acts of insubordination against the political party is therefore construed as acts of insubordination against the government. Does such argument hold water? Must every public employee be a member or at least align themselves to the political dogma of the political organisation that is controlling the government? If it is so then they are in contravention of the General Orders since the latter forbid them from affiliation with any political parties lest it hinder themselves from performing their duties.

If public officers are to affiliate themselves with the political parties that are in control of the government then certainly such is undemocratic since in democracy one is free to have his or her political belief which then translated into vote during the election. It is inconceivable to force those civil servants to be members of the political organisation controlling the government for many inherent reasons. One of them is, should they render any services to those known to be members of the opposition? If they are to do so then clearly it is an act of disobedience since they belong to the party controlling the government.

Public servants therefore should not be asked to render their allegiance to any political party so that they can remain impartial in the dispersal of their duties. Their responsibilities are liken to the lady of justice who is blind to circumstances that can hinder her from dispersing justice. One may have political leaning be it the ruling party or the opposition like in many developed countries including the US but those certainly not a hindrance for them to provide excellent services to the mass.

The mistaken and oppressive belief that public officers need to formally align themselves to the ruling party should be critically scrutinised. Political affiliation should not be imposed upon civil servants not only because it is against the prevailing General Orders but it is also goes against fundamental liberties provided and protected by the Federal Constitution. What need to be done instead is for them to render their services in the best possible ways irrespective of race, faith, colour, language and of course political belief!

Will there be another By-Election? If there is, then there they should be battle of the battles since all three will be held at a 'higher' locations - all starts with the word 'Bukit' which reflect the high negative sentiment against the present coalition for their thug-like tactics particularly evident on February 6 this year with the fall of PR-held Perak state government.

The recent saga involving Elizabeth Wong is the second after CSL infamous video. After witnessing the fall of Perak to UMNO/BN, the sad episode involving one of many bright politicians, is immediately attached to the ruling coalition. Giving credence to the theory after KHir Toyo immediately calls for her to resign from her posts. Next thing we know she offers to resign from all posts including Bukit Lanjan state seat she won under PKR during the March 8 election.

It seems that unscrupulous and power-hungry wolves are trying to create chaos, distrust and finally anarchy with this recent event. Being in a democratic country falling for such immoral tactics by invading one's privacy to bring her or his downfall is clearly a cowardly act. Greed and denial syndrome are rooting inside therefore they will try anything be it legal or otherwise to gain or regain power. Dignity for them is not a problem, what happens to Wong is a clear proof of such obsession.

In public, they declare that they truly believe in democracy and respect the People's choice to replace previous government in 5 different states (now 4). They portray themselves as true believers of democracy but when opportunities arise, immediately any 'righteous' principles they claim to practise are quickly brushed aside as long as they gain something. This is not accusation but instead this observation is based on facts as what have happened in Perak, Kedah and now Selangor.

Sadly but true many are still supporting those wolves or choose to turn the other way. For these strayers, what have happened and will happened are justifiable. For them, it all originated from the September 16 dashed dream of Anwar Ibrahim. The real culprit is Anwar, he starts the ball rolling and now, they add, Anwar and PR get to test their own medicine. According to them, ends certainly justify the means. Legality or morality are no longer issues as long as the other side initiate such action irrespective whether it bears fruit or not. They have or at least control everything including the potent weapon of all - money!

Such low and immoral tactics to tarnish one's dignity for money and power will cause everlasting domino effects if the authority has no urgency to curb it from becoming serious. Distrust even among loved ones, families and friends will spread. Gradually, just because of their obsession with power the whole country succumbs to anarchy. What can they achieve with all power is in their hand but there's no law to enforce order and peace?

Before it is too late and before we incur the Almighty's wrath, stop this antics. Be gentlemen and accept the reality that you no longer command every nook and corner of this country. People are starting to see the truth.

Of Loyalty and Blind Obedience

Senyum Kambing should be changed to Kambing Menangis since it never fail to create dissension and animosity among Malaysians. This is especially true when it comes to politics as it never try to give the two sides of the coin instead they prefer one and only side whether they believe it to be the truth does not matter at all. The most important thing is they manage to paint a terrible image of the other side. It is their hope that readers particularly those 'oldies' will remain steadfast with their bosses. They have been doing that forever but lately people are no longer gullible.

Politics, indeed is a job for those with thick skin or rather bomb proofed kind of skin. Nothing will affect them, they become shameless creatures without any sign of decency. Fortunately there still a few whom everyone can emulate since they portray admirable image in public as well in private. For them being in public or private has no difference since their Creator is All Seeing, nothing is able to hide from His limitless view.

Senyum Kambing today brings us the issue of degrading the scholar, the Mufti of Perak in particular. They either consciously or otherwise admit that they are indeed shallow or dangkal since they themselves for so long as memory can remember have been doing the same particularly if the scholars have different views as that of theirs and their bosses at PWTC or Putrajaya. Renowned scholars like the late Ibrahim Libya, the late Ishak Baharum, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Harun Din Al- Hafiz, Badrul Amin Bahron, Ismail Kamus, Taib Azzamuddin and many others have been openly criticised in their paper only because they have different political affiliation and thus qualify them to be degraded, criticised and all sorts of negative connotations. Yet they label others as 'dangkal' for criticising Harussani Zakaria!

Criticising leaders is never wrong since they too are humans, humans make mistakes. Since they are dealing with the well-being and welfare of the people who entrusted them to do just that therefore the People have the right to criticise them whenever they fail to deliver. Even the scholars for all their knowledge , are not immune from mistakes. Prophet Muhammad SAW himself a person declared by Allah SWT to be immune from mistakes and sin, spend his time asking for forgiveness though he knows that he is the chosen one.

For their knowledge, scholars deserve to be respected and indeed they have earn the right and privilege to be respected and look upon in times of troubles. I truly believe what the Mufti of Perak does or says is qualified. Every rule has its own special exception and loyalty to a mere mortal has its limit, everyone must obey and loyal only to those who possess impeccable morality and lead an exemplary life. We are no longer bound to be loyal when they stray from the truth. In fact it is incumbent upon everyone to rectify such deviation.

Being a Constitutional Ruler admittedly HRH Sultan Azlan Shah has the right to appoint one whom he deems to control the support of majority of the elected representatives. Nonetheless, it must be done with care and precision to avoid any untoward circumstances. Being the Ruler he is analogous to a court of law therefore HRH in all his wisdom should look into the circumstances leading towards the sway of support from PR to BN. To simply emplace BN as the new state government without appreciating the preceding events is an irresponsible act. Courts have been known to 'make' laws through its interpretation as to what the legislative means or intend to.

Perak Constitution just like any other laws are opened to interpretation in order to safeguard the interest of the People and just simply making a harsh but disguised as an informed decision. The ungentlemanly snatching away a democratically elected government is just like what happened to Aung San Suu Kyi and her party who has been unjustly denied the right to rule though the People have decided to put the trust on her and her party.

Sahibus Samahah Hj. Harussani Zakaria is well known for his vast knowledge and therefore what he says is certainly qualified and he has done such with wisdom and full knowledge of the current situation. Therefore, he risks himself being criticised or as Senyum Kambing says 'mencerca' since he fails to categorically qualifies his statement.

Blind loyalty and obedience have never been in the teachings of Islam as the only entity deserving such privilege is Him alone. Yet, He never asks the faithful to blindly follow Him. He provides us with five senses and a functional mind to look and learn of His abundant blessings and of course His Ever Present Authority. We are free to wander and stray if we choose not to believe Him. Him being the Supreme Being has all the right to impose obedience be it with full conscience or otherwise but as He is Master of all Wisdom, He never done such thing.

Therefore, for us mere mortals to impose total and unqualified loyalty is an act of disrespect to the Supreme Being. We need to allow criticism and doubts so that we will become better persons.

A Possible Coup D'etat?

There are pros and cons against now embattled (or embarrassed?) State Assembly Woman for Bukit Lanjan from PKR. Whether it is just a coincidence but PKR receives another blow to its already tarnished image only days after two of its elected representatives sulk and now become a BN-leaning independent YBs in Perak. Its own Advisor is involved in yet another sex related scandal.

It is undeniable that, everything that has happened has its roots in politics. However unlike CSL of MCA ages ago, his is rather an internal matter of which he openly admits but for EW's it is more to ruin her party which recently has been badly tarnished due to the now defunct September 16 agenda.

She like CSL openly admits that those compromising pictures are of herself. Khir Toyo, the Botox enhanced former Selangor MB is quick to call her immediate resignation. Surprisingly, she gets the back up from unlikely allies in MCA and Pas. Such is of course a very encouraging solidarity irrespective of their affiliation as it concern privacy and dignity of a person.

I am not going to defend her conduct since what she has done and she takes responsibility of her action, is something frowned upon by not only religions but also from Eastern point of values. Being a leader she is supposed to have exemplary behaviour be it in private or in the open. Certainly, being within a conservative society her conduct is absolutely unacceptable.

Therefore, let us remind ourselves that to become a leader in this country one needs to be of high morality. He or she needs to avoid and protect him or herself from being involved in any secret activities. Sooner if not later, it will become public and in the end the people will suffer the most. The people who risk their future by voting for those leaders. Now, trouble is looming over the head of the Selangor MB,his exco and most importantly the whole state government. Looking at recent development it is never impossible that there will be another Coup D'etat!

Work wise, she has done a great job in helping the people in both her capacity as an Assembly Woman and Exco. To save the state government from being targeted by the 'hungry' wolves who themselves are no better and may be even worse but since those wolves control almost everything including the culprit behind this mess, she needs to resign from the Executive Council but certainly not her state seat. Nonetheless, such will not be sufficient to save the state government as those hungry and unethical wolves will do anything just to topple a legal and rightful government. Only time will tell but they need to be cautious.

None is perfect and if what I am writing here is too ideal, well I concede to that. Even in the West where oftentimes we use as examples for amoral and immorality but most often than not, leaders who are even rumoured to be involved in sex scandal will resign from their posts. Anyone who dream of becoming leaders someday need to watch out their steps earlier on long before they become public figures.

In this respect I truly admire majority of Pas leaders who lead almost clean life styles even before they become politicians. Why almost clean? Nobody is perfect and to those people the most we can think of are things that we ourselves view as ordinary or petty matters like talking too much (writing too much?). Even those hypocrite wolves have nothing to say in terms of major sins with regards to people like TGHA, TGNA or Ustaz Nasharudin. They truly lead a similar life in public or within the four walls of their homes. In short, they are examples of those who walk the talk.

This entry absolutely is not intended to create dissension among supporters of the People's Pact but instead this is more to fear of losing an alternative to a highly decomposed and beyond recognition kind of government we have to endure today. Seeing and experiencing all sorts of misdeeds committed by both their leaders and their cohorts really puts desperation and fear that an alternative which trying to do its best to walk the talk, to lead by example will crumble before my eyes.

After the March 8 election, they put up posters labelling their own Ruler 'natang'!

They go berserk when others question the Ruler's decision to allow a Coup D'etat

They don't mind when Malay Language is being downgraded in favour of English

They go to the street to voice out their dissatisfaction

They question the resignation letter by V Arumugam, former State Bt. Selambau Assemblyman which by the way is duly accepted by the Ruler!

All the above are scrapes of double standard treatment to others, others here refer to the Opposition. Obviously there are exclusive set of rules for the Opposition:

1. No street demonstration - it is not of our culture, it only creates chaos

2. Criticism of the Ruler is an act of treason - when the Ruler acts in their favour and not the majority, going against vox populi

3. It is OK to criticise the Rulers - Exclusive 'Right' for the ruling coalition

4. Frogging is only OK when it is from the Opposition to the Ruling Coalition - for the people, they say

5. Rulers are 'above' everyone and none can touch them - If it is against the ruling coalition then it is OK

Peace loving and justice seeker Malaysians should always remember their sacrifice and struggle for a better Malaysia will not be in vain. To those 'reformists', none can compare your contribution than endless and sincere gratitude to us. From being ignorant to one who today and in the future be able to see the truth, to see and to realise that for a long time we have been robbed of our dignity by knaves, charlatans and their underlings. Beliau ( A.Samad Said) turut menempelak bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang memulakan dasar itu sebagai "penguncup bahasa".Perdana Menteri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi dan Menteri Pelajaran, Hishamuddin Hussein pula disifatkan beliau sebagai "pelanjut penguncup bahasa".

Reading coments from distinguished figures in the struggle to uphold the National Language is inspiring. Some may see this as being ironic since an entry about the national language is written in a foreign language and to make it even more anti climax mine is written in English- the language GMP, or Movement to Abolish ETEMS is trying to replace with the national language.

Be as it may, the issue is not about usage of English in general but it is limited to English as the SOLE medium of Instruction to teach Science and Mathematics. Former DBP DG, for instance laments the media of belittling the issue. According to him, there seems to a movement underway to undermine the significance of the issue particularly by maun stream media. He opines that such may be due to 'interference' from higher ups.

Indeed, I share similar sentiment. For some this issue is apolitical but truly it is a political issue since the move to replace national language or other languages as the medium of instruction is something which goes against the spirit of Article 152 of Federal Constitution. The excuse of locals being weak in terms of Science, Mathematics and Technology is laughable and clearly shows ignorance and shallow mindedness by certain leaders.

Being a medical doctor, TDM is supposed to know more. The correct way, in fact it is the only way to treat an illness, is to identify its root or origin and not merely treating the areas that have been infected. As such, the illness can then be cured totally. If a doctor or in this case a surgeon only operates on the surface on the cancer-infected cells than later if not soon, the cancer will resurface and it may be fatal.

The government through Hishamuddin as I expect continue to deny the prevalent situation. Instead of allowing the room for doubts and dissension he proceeds to say that TIMSS 2007 is not the only instrument the government takes into account. What does he mean really? Is he saying that the findings cannot be accepted even for reference since public examination results clearly show the opposite? I beg to differ since there is no independent and impartial body has ever been invited to do a thorough audit on the whole process from the moment the questions are formulated until the results are analysed. I may be wrong but until today I have not come across an iota of proof that an independent body has indeed done an audit of the whole process.

Since it has become a national issue, the need for an independent audit has become more urgent. Is it really true that most rural students have now achieved a commendable level in Science and Mathematics since English becomes their medium of instruction? It is an open secret that the passing grade or marks is lowered when too many fail to reach them. Therefore, 40 or even lower can be the 'new' passing marks even situation warrants it. This is of course something that the ministry will deny but there are instances of students who cannot even write a simple Malay sentence pass their Malay language papers albeit there are two papers!

A responsible government is one that is willing to accept different views openly and not immediately takes a defensive stance by trying to justify their doings. A good government should be positive towards criticism and not too quick to brush them aside. Indeed, if the BN- led government is true to their words, they must embrace changes and be more accomodative, Hishamuddin for once should not done what he has done - consistently denying that ETEMS has its serious flaws.

TIMSS 2007 - The Truth

Revert back to our National Language

The exposure by the National Malaysian Muslim Students Association (PKPIM) on Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2007) by International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) seems lost and ignored by many since February 5 Coup D'etat in Perak.

The full report reveals facts which are not really shocking but the impact on students' future are beyond our imagination. The introduction of English as a medium of instruction for both Mathematics and Science years ago have systematically accelerated the decline in students' performance in both Science and Mathematics as compared to nations which use their native languages to teach both subjects.

According to the report as quoted here, Malaysia suffers significant decline from 1oth position in TIMSS 2003 to an embarrassing 20th though participating nations increased from 46 in 2003 to 49 in 2007. An increase of 3 participating nations certainly does not commensurate with being in 20th position from 10th just over 4 years from 2003 till 2007. Among the countries that managed to overtake Malaysia in TIMSS 2007 are Serbia, Italy, Malta and Czech Republic with the latter two being newcomers.

The question that some of those countries are developed nations like Britain and the United States does not arise and totally irrelevant as the performance of the participating students are not influenced by their nations status either a developed or developing country like ours but rather it is due to the medium of instruction used. Whereas in those countries they use their native or mother tongue in teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics unlike us who prefer to use English based on mistaken belief that English needs to be the medium since majority of references for both subjects are in English locally and internationally.

The report further adds that our overall score for Mathematics have since decline to 474 from previous 503 whereby the overall international score is 500. Meanwhile, in terms of Science, Malaysia also suffers quite significant decline from 20th position to 21st position in the recent census.Our overall score for Science has seen a marked decline from 510 previously to 471 in the latest census.

The participants for the census are 150 form 2 students around the country who are learning both subjects in English (PPSMI). It may necessary to state here that TIMSS is an internationally recognised census and therefore the Education Ministry in particular and the government in general cannot just ignore the results on whatever basis just like what happened to the THES report not long ago.

Taking such stand will not help the standard of education instead it will further decline and erode our already ailing education system. Denial syndrome should immediately be replaced by a more transparent and vigorous veal to improve our current state. If the report is only for internal use than by right the People have the privilege to share them since they are also stake holders in our education system being part of the society and most importantly being parents and guardians of those who are learning Science and Mathematics in English.

It is indeed surprising to see the report's finding when the ministry has been reporting improvement in students' achievement in both subjects since its 'reinvention' years ago. Perhaps what the ministry needs to do is to engage neutral and impartial outside auditor to look into the whole process particularly the creation of questions up until the scripts are marked. If there is nothing wrong with the whole process than the ministry should warm up to this suggestion to appoint impartial auditor.

The government since time immemorial has been calling for the people to unite and to discard their political diversities but until today the government remains hidden behind a thick wall of bureaucracy and the most unfortunate of all is that in many cases such as the decline of our universities standard, rather than warming up to criticism they immediately tend to deny everything by offering too many excuses.

Moral Justification Lacking

My former professor of law, Prof Dr. Aziz Bari in an online daily seemed to give credence to my earlier observation that the Sultan of Perak cannot or rather should not rushed to appoint Dr. Zambry A. Kadir, my super duper muper senior back in 1987.

According to Dr. Aziz, the Ruler should look into prevailing circumstances before assenting to Dr. Zambry's appointment since the present state government intends and indeed has brought the case to the court. Generally, therefore everything should stay as it is before the Ruler's rushed appointment of Dr. Zambry. Presently, there seems to a redundancy when two parties claiming to be the Chief Executive. Since it is now a court case and in order for the government to continue to avoid any vacuum hence the status quo should remain in force.

If the new MB holds on to the principles that he claims to uphold and practise which I believe and hope he is a man of his words therefore the only honourable thing to do is to let Ir. Hj. Nizar to continue at least as an interim government before the case involving both parties is decided by the court. Dr. Zambry should remember that PR has won the election back in March and morally he should excuse himself up until the case is finally decided by the court. Being a devout Muslim he should know when to insist and when to step aside.

Although, legally he might be the MB but this should not become his only guidance. Morality and ethics too should be in his consideration. The fact that the Rakyat have voted for the PR instead of BN should be a clear indication of his position today. Ir. Hj. Nizar has never conceded the government to BN but instead he has advised the Ruler to dissolve the State Assembly to return the decision as to who really deserved to be at the helm. Indeed the case is different when there is no contention as per the DPM's insistence of taking over the state government.

I would like to reiterate that the application of laws should not be done literally since there are rights of others to be considered. Literally interpreting the laws will only caused dissension and chaos within the society as truly have happened on the eve of Dr. Zambry's swearing-in ceremony. Suddenly, the Ruler has caused himself to be dragged into the mess and most damaging of all is that the Constitutional Monarchy has been heavily criticised by those who traditionally have high regards and respect towards the institution.

If they are thinking that the commoners will not dare to harm them based on previous accounts such as what happened in 1948 when the Rakyat came to the rescue of their fumbling Rulers. That time the Rakyat were willing to accept their reason of signing the Malayan Union Treaty as due to duress and threat but what happens in Perak is totally different where there is no apparent threat or even undue influence (which we know of) by the DPM. Though it may be in his power to accept or decline Ir. Hj. Nizar recommendation but again the Ruler who until February 5 enjoys enviable respect for his wisdom and fairness being the nation 5th Lord President, should think about the repercussion and effects of his decision for the well being of HRH subjects.

First of all, our sincere prayers to Allahyarham Roslan Shaharum, Bukit Gantang MP who passed away after an apparent heart attack. We will remember him as one of us who is unable to see that justice and true peace return to this nation of ours.

Whether it is a coincidence or not but Bukit Gantang in Perak will yet become another intense battle between PR and BN with the latter having everything to lose while controlling almost everything imaginable. They have the upper hand in terms of logistics, government machinery and of course the root of all evil - money.

This is the best time for them particularly for the PM-in waiting to prove that they are justified of robbing Perak from the People who voted for PR during the last election. They will do everything - EVERYTHING be it legal , illegal, morally right and all sort immoral acts. Be rest assured that they will not hesitate to revert to dirty tactics like pouring millions of ringgit projects in Bukit Gantang while giving away 'sedekah' to the voters. The Poor Students Group Trust Fund (KWAPM) will immediately be distributed among students with the attendance of their parents who are also voters. Suddenly, there will be various functions officiated by both the Federal and 'illegal' State leaders including MB Zombie, Mr Cry Baby and the entourage for the sole intention of 'bribing' the common folks. These are all done merely to show that they have everything and thus can and will do anything to retain their waning power.

Sadly but fortunately, the voters Insya Allah will see such tactics as another prove that the ruling coalition through their immense resources have robbed them of a legally, democratically and most important of all a morally elected government unlike the current junta which is the opposite - an amoral government.

The voters in N14 CHANGKAT JERING which is currently held by one of the frogs, Mohd. Osman Mohd. Jailu should send a very clear message to the 'illegal' government that they reject not only amoral but low quality representative they have today. The frog and in fact all the frogs should refrained themselves from making public appearance for fear that the already loser coalition will suffer yet their worst lost ever.

P/s - What if the voters create a Malaysian Book of Records (MBR) by giving every vote to PR leaving two or three votes for BN since it is quite impossible (though not entirely impossible) to humuliate them with 0 vote!

You tell the people the stories the best you know. If there is something you don't know, you be up front and make that clear. You always give the aggrieved party the chance to respond before you publish or go to air. That's just my kind of old-fashioned news values.

Never before in the long and colourful history of Alliance party and its successor, National Front, its constituent members hurling criticism among each other be it on personal basis or collectively as an entity in the open before the whole to see and listen. It is different when it comes to the 'infant' People's Pact or previously Alternative Front where it is common occurrences. Some, particularly the ruling coalition or its supporters, are of the view that such is sign or them breaking up, sign of their internal squabble or sign of their superficial solidarity whatever one calls it. Perhaps it is true and there is a conflict among them. But, don't we suffer from conflicts ourselves? The answer is a resounding YES!

However, may counter by saying since they are bind together in an entity it is better and in fact it is incumbent upon everyone to settle and solve their conflicts internally rather than exposing or have it for everyone to see and listen. Such will only cause anxiety among others within the organisation and will be a delicious issue for the other side to cause further damage to them. Again, I have to concede as I too believe that such matter can be solved internally without others interfering.

Nonetheless, trying to solve it internally will not necessarily solve the conflict and the more you try to hide and suppress dissatisfaction within , the bigger and more complex they will become. Suddenly, those conflicts blow up in the open and at that time nothing effective can be done other than picking up the pieces. It is merely a cleaning up exercise but the problems are still there. Look at the issue of Malay supremacy, the issue is actually a non issue and the conflict is only about the term but not the practise. The more they try to suppress the issue from coming the more rebellious some have become and suddenly it has turned into a racial issue.

Having their conflict in the open is certainly not a sign of them breaking up rather it is a sign that they are maturing and can have an open debate before others. They have reached a level where they can be different and is not ashamed of the fact instead the ruling coalition has to endure a cancerous dissension for as long as 50 years. They never have the experience of having to bear it all in the open and once they bring it to the fore, troubles start to brew and they start to call for another's head just like what happened between UMNO and Gerakan. In fact, for them an internal matter stays internal and those who bring it out are risking disciplinary action under the auspicious collectivism.

Keeping a conflict within for a long time will only deteriorate the matter until a time it is no longer containable. Gradually, it seeps out for everyone to see. By keeping conflicts to themselves has another disadvantage, the people whose problem is the origin of the conflict will feel that they are not being look after in a manner satisfactory to them. They feel that their leaders are not doing anything to solve the matter just like what happen to our Indian friends when matters surrounding them are being kept internally by design. As a result, they feel that they have not been properly represented by MIC. They have the view that their leaders within the coalition are not doing enough and just 'kowtowing' others.

Bringing a conflict to the open will enable the People to share and aware that their problem is being considered and things are shaping to solve that conflict. They will see that their leaders, people who are representing them are really doing their job. A conflict in the open will usually bring about resolution compared to when it remains hidden from the public. It continues to drag on and on but no clear or concrete sign of solution to end the problem. People today would rather see a problem being discussed in the open and by it bring a finality to the problem rather them continue to hide it why trying to solve it among themselves hidden within four walls. Today, people prefer to see action oriented leaders who dare to bring the people's problems into the open.

Today, ministers in the ruling coalition are no longer strictly following the rule of collectivism which is detrimental as what happened after the March 8 election. Leaders like Muhyiddin Yassin, SK Devamany and T Murugiah are following the trend set by the advanced PR leaders like TG Hadi Awang, LKS, LGE and now KS. For the People's Pact, it is no longer a novel working ethics but it has become part and parcel of their working style - to tell the people that they are doing things necessary to bring forward their predicaments.

However, bringing certain issues to the open is nothing free from causing anxiety among members or supporters and perhaps the worst is when the other side with the help of mainstream media which are under their control will then paint negative images and hearsay that the People's Pact are now breaking up just like what they do when KS is calling for DSAI's head.

Such, of course will have little impact as People nowadays are no longer paying much attention to their divide and conquer tactics. The only purpose of them listening and reading their news coverage is just to update themselves of what has or is happening on the other camp. To believe and then act according to the dictates of the main stream media is highly unlikely. They have been doing their dirty tactics for so long but gradually the ruling coalition are losing control and today if not because of the Black 5 (February 5,2009) People's Pact are controlling 5 states.

If KS is being enticed to join the ruling coalition due to his differences with DSAI, perhaps his only response is - OVER MY DEAD BODY and EVEN IF I DIE I RATHER BE BURIED INCOGNITO THAN MARKING MY GRAVE WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HEADSTONE ENGRAVED WITH THE SYMBOL OF THE RULING COALITION!

I, for once will never be easily duped by those news reports as it is their intention to divide and finally coerce the People to believe and lend their support to the ruling coalition. For those out there, read and listen to what they are reporting merely as venues for us to release stress and have a good laugh.

Today, one of the pioneer of modern day frogging culture in 1994 boasts that frogging is not illegal as there is no such law which prohibit the 'exercise'. Another of his colleague who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister (not the victim of 1994 frogging) concurs with the former by stating that frogging is 'good' when it serves the Rakyat!

How can it be construed as serving the Rakyat when in the first place they reject the losers? The Rakyat have fore go the choice of having a corrupt but wealthy organisation since they realise that the organisation's priority will be to make themselves richer through mega projects, luxurious cars, palatial homes and overseas vacations. The Rakyat will then share whatever is left for them through mediocre facilities which are of poor quality. Even the signboards are better that the end products of those projects. It is better for them to use the materials to erect the notice board to build or at least repair damaged homes of the poor though only one or two will benefit.

Ironically, many from the pioneer state of frogging emphatically deny similarities between Perak in 2009 and 1994's Sabah, including one from a party which starts the process back in 1990 but like Anwar Ibrahim, they have forgotten that the coalition control almost unlimited resources particularly money. As a result, they lost the government to UMNO, the party which orchestrated the coup D'etat in Perak. This guy who is one of Vice President of now rehabilitated PBS even has the audacity to name Anwar as the pioneer of frogging culture in Sabah but may I humbly remind you Mr Herbert Timbun that it is actually your beloved President who starts the ball rolling in the eve of the general election back in 1990! In the eve a general election I tell you when as a component of BN they should strive to maintain order within their rank to ensure victory. Anwar Ibrahim may or may not be responsible but what happens in Perak is clearly the doings of Najib Razak, the Prime Minister in waiting, who is desperate to prove his mettle.

Being a commoner, I may not be in the best position to advise Mr. Herbert to check the facts before saying something that will backfire as what he has done. In politics everything is possible including PBS which may by now calculating its future in the coalition. Don't just reject the possibility outright since Nasaruddin Hashim has proven to be the best example of a political frog - frogging twice in the space of 11 days!

Nonetheless, politicians should remember the purpose of politics - to better serve the people. Not just serving them as best as they can but at the same time believe, possess and practise morality and integrity. What Anwar Ibrahim starts as the September 16 is wrong and he may be doing what a politician does best - politicking! He must surely and rationally realised that he cannot do what he intends with limited resources. We are no longer live in the 50's or 60's where politicians are relatively clean and sincere in their struggle.

Hopping or frogging should not be condoned at any time or for any objectives as it is morally wrong though it is guaranteed under the law. Politics is never separate from religion as what happens in the West but we seldom hear western politicians do what our politicians frequently do here unashamedly though some of them are Muslims, a religion which never tolerate abuse of trust and corruption.

What is done is done and have happened have indeed happened. With the HRH the Sultan of Perak's decision to follow literally the letters of Perak Establishment of State Constitution by emplacing BN and agrees to the appointment of Dr. Zamby Kadir as the 11th Menteri Besar.

Eleven months have lapsed after the historical 12th General Election which have seen 5 states are taken over by the Opposition, the People's Pact consisting of PKR, Pas and DAP (previously known as Alternative Front or Barisan Alternatif). Trouble is expected to blow up when DAP with the most number of State seat but they finally reach a compromise to appoint Ir. Haji Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, a little known Pas State Deputy Commissioner (previously he is the Pas State Secretary) to be 10th Menteri Besar. From a humble and obscure figure he rises to become among the well-known political figures who remains true to himself. He continues to wear the cloak of humility. This quality ensures him the favour of everyone despite his lack of wide political experience possessed by wel experienced Ngeh Ko Ham and his predecessor, the 'cry baby' Tajol Rosli Ghazali.

With cunning and wicked political coup, BN finally manage to topple a democratically elected People's Pact government despite recommendation by Ir. Hj. Nizar to dissolve the State Assembly. Immediately, the former 5th Malaysia Lord President and later the 36th Sultan of Perak before ascending to throne of ceremonial King of Malaysia as the 9th Yang Dipertuan Agong, HRH Sultan Azlan Shah is dragged into a political chaos when he assents to the appointment of Dr. Zambry Kadir, a former Chairman of UMNO Youth Academy, as the new Menteri Besar. Such decision causes an uproar among dissatified and disappointed Malaysians as they believe that being a learned and highly respected figure he will not acquiescent to BN's reasoning by literally following the letters of Perak Consititution.

Giving HRH the benefit of the doubt, which HRH should have applied to the apparent coup, and the fact that BN and UMNO in particular have access to almost everything as well as being the largest and seasoned political organisation in the country, HRH's decision should be expected and foreseen. We may never know what transpired behind the walls of Istana Kinta between HRH and heavyweights like the infamous Mohammad Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Depity Prime Minister and the 6th Prime Minister in- waiting come March 2009.

The son of the second Prime Minister and the youngest Pahang Menteri Besar at the age of 28, he is indeed a very experienced and seasoned politician hence the Opposition should never taken him lightly. They particularly should have seen this coming long ago after the March 8 election and further exacerbated by DSAI's failed beguilement of imminent exodus of BN elected representaives come September 16 last year.

Among the immediate effects of March 8 election is the situation under which HRH is put under - the appointment of the next Chief Executive. HRH is presented with three names; Ngeh Ko Ham representing DAP with the highest number of seats, Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi of PKR, who will start the usurpation process and later costs PR, the state of Perak while the third one is Ir. Haji Nizar himself. Many expect Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi of PKR being the favourite since Ngeh is a Chinese Methodist Christian, therefore disqualify him from being the Menteri Besar and Ir. Hj. Nizar as his party only manges to secure 6 seats. Ir. Hj. Nizar's selection and eventual appointment as the 10th Menteri Besar comes as a surprise to many including those from Pakatan Rakyat. Whatever justification HRH has applied in choosing Ir. Hj. Nizar we may never know but HRH has clearly shown his acumen by appointing a Pas man as his Chief Executive. HRH, in my view has scored a few significant points.

First, HRH tacitly proclaims that being a Muslim-dominant state with Islam as its official religion, only a Muslim can and will be the Menteri Besar. His choice of Ir. Hj. Nizar, an obscure and humble figure over Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi indeed a very savvy and ingenious political move. HRH in-depth knowledge and conscience enables HRH to foresee the political chaos and uncertainties if Jamaluddin is appointed Menteri Besar since only a few months later he 's implicated with corruption and to utter his now famous "seks itu sedekah"(or is it Osman Mohd Jailu's?). If HRH has choosen Jamaluddin, it will by now bring down his and Perak's image even further down. HRH choice of Ir. Hj. Nizar despite his 'green' status manages to put Perak in the limelight with his people-friendly approach and his ability to converse fluently in Chinese. His down to earth image is a contrast to that of elitist image exudes by Tajol Rosli, being the son of a Perak Menteri Besar.

Be as it may, Najib Razak and BN may have their 'dirty' wish come true but believe me, Pakatan Rakyat and the People not only in Perak but throughout Malaysia will have the last laugh - a very sweet, happy and hearthy laugh, courtesy of HRH Paduka Seri Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah Ghafaru'llahulahu!

Najib Razak, UMNO and BN may have put in the last nail to their 'stinking' political coffin. Their action of 'pressuring' HRH to make the decision in their favour may have forever destined BN and UMNO to their last journey of unrivalled power.

They may have thought that HRH in HRH twilight years has frailed HRH sharp and tack reasoning HRH is famous for during HRH years as the head of Judiciary. Intelligent as HRH is, HRH lets Najib Razak, BN and their underlings believe that HRH is an easy prey but in fact HRH may have expediate the inevitable, slow degradation into full speed and advanced rotting process of tyrants like the ruling coalition. In the process, HRH has taken a bold step of letting himself as the target of anger, slander, hatred and all sorts of negative images as one of his final yet thoroughly memorable legacy - Destruction of the BN empire! Therefore, instead of hurling heartles and overboard accusation which may cause us liable to sedition and viewed as disrupting national security, it is better to thank and congratulate HRH for his invaluable contribution towards the progress of democracy.

HRH has indeed shows his integrity by sacrificing himself towards a better Perak and Malaysia in general. This latest coup has literally exposed the truth about BN and especially UMNO. It is no longer just hearsay, assumption, slander and baseless accusation but now it is opened for everyone to see and witness. Whatever justification BN try to put forward to legalise and moralised their action as being for the sake of the People but few will be deceived. The 10th Perak State government is legally and democratically elected by the People or at least majority of them therefore as believer and practitioner of democracy of which BN boast on every opportunity, they are in the position to better understand the situation they have brought the whole nation into.

If they are gentlemen of the highest order, the only honourable way to cleanse their dirty work is none other than returning the decision to the People. In case they have forgotten, the People are their true Master and not themselves. What they have done in Perak has set the trend and ignites a domino effects on the other four Pakatan-ruled states. Najib Razak in defense of BN's filthy tactic has vehemently denies involvement of money. But what about threat of physical and mental harm? Two of the PKR and now Independent assemblymen including Jamaluddin, the once candidate to be Menteri Besar, are embroiled in charges of corruption. What will happened to their cases? For taking a political suicide in view of present scenario, it is highly unbelievable that they will be willing to swith allegience just because of the People. What about the frail Hee Yit Fong, first ever woman with physical disability to be appointed as the Deputy Speaker? Might she be influenced due to duress involving herself and her family? What about Bota Assemblyman who now famous of two consecutive frogging leaps within the space of 11 days? The speculation and hearsay can go on and on but the damage is done. People and history will bear witness to such undemocratic and heinous acts just to assume power. In short, it is a mutiny!

There can never be two Captains on one ship how big the ship may be. There is only one Menteri Besar, Dr. Zambry Kadir, since he commands the government machinery. Ir. Hj. Nizar may be the legal and morally deserved to be the Menteri Besar as he commands the confidence by majority of the elected Assemblymen and most importantly the People but he is left naked without any tools to govern the state. His stance of defying the Ruler's order is actually a stance to defy and oppose the cheating tactics of the BN in usurping the power from the legally elected government.

His defiance seems futile and to some just a mere cheap political showdown, which according to many should be spent more to work and devlop the state and the country overall. Nonetheless, it should be viewed positively as a jihad to protect one's right and morever in this case, it is the people' right. At least, by doing what he did and in fact still do absolves him from accountability in the Hereafter for not sticking and defending the rights of the People.

His letter to the HRH Sultan Azlan stating his reasons for defying HRH's order to relinquish his post at least has shifted the blame to him and he seems to be willing to take the rap in tandem with HRH's own sacrifice. Many are now calling for his head and request HRH to strip him of his Datuk Seri. A humble man he is, he will be contend with just plain Haji Nizar since what is greater than a title awarded by the Creator Himself? In the Hereafter, none will be summoned by his long and illustrious title which may become a burden for it is ill gotten. Being a good servant of the Almighty, he may fade in time but Allah is the best Inductor and He has the best planned from him in the future.

Ir. Hj. Nizar may now is courting with the real prospect of being hauled up to Kamunting to become another 'student' of the infamous Universiti Kamunting to be re educated under the Internal Security Act for threatening national security and may even face the hangman noose for inciting hatred against the Ruler. It may sounds farfetched but again we are living in a land where everything is possible since we live under the pleasure of those in power (which is wrong of course since we live and die because of Him and only Him).

The present situation and conducts of the ruling coalition inspired the blogger for the above 'fairytale'. As rubbish as they may be but everyone need to remind himself and others of what transpired in Perak and Malaysia at least for the third time since Stephen Kalong Ningkan, Joseph Pairin Kitingan and now Ir. Hj. Nizar Jamaluddin. Keep these facts fresh at all time so that when the time comes, by the grace of Allah, tyrants will have to meet their tragic and shameful end. We need to persevere and solidify our belief - Even the mighty King Namrud meets his end in the tiny body of a mosquito!

I am not fond of royalties but in all circumstances we need to consider any doubts so we will have the full picture
