Knaves

Above politics, are they?

Politicians most often than not take the people for granted since they have the mainstream media to back them up and feeding the people with lies and mischief though they keep on accusing others of spreading lies. In fact, they are the true knaves who prefer the assumed truth rather than the truth.

Now, some are saying that the Opposition are being ungrateful and disloyal to the Monarch for what has happened in Perak. But, in reality and by reality I refer to fact who is responsible of demoting the Monarch to their current level back in 1983? Who dared to install a new ruler in Kelantan just because the sitting ruler does not agree with him? Now, they are like mad cow disease-infected patients calling and declaring others as being treacherous against the Monarch! A clear fact of hypocrisy indeed.

Though the power to appoint a Chief Executive lies in the Ruler but the way the 'illegal' Chief Executive is emplaced is something many cannot fathom and accept. It is a coup d'etat in democracy since Monarch is above politics therefore by impartiality it really means that only the People have the right over the election and appointment of a day to day government. Ironically, the one who is dragged into the mess is none other than a former Lord President ( now Chief Justice of the Federal Court), a person who is well-versed in the letters of law. He should know how to interpret the law as he is once part of the law itself.

Slim majority should not be blamed for the fracas since integrity and principle should be their shield against any malpractices. They are elected to their seats by the People therefore they need to honour the People by resigning or give away their seats if they no longer feel aligned with the struggle of the party or parties they once belonged to. They should believe in collective responsibility though they are not appointed as part of the Executive Council or the Cabinet. If they no longer believe in the struggle of their party , the only way out based on integrity and responsibility is by resigning their post and not by changing allegiance.

Talking about allegiance, what happens to Raymond Tan the embattled Sabah DCM is another example how power can corrupt a person though he may declare that he is sticking to the coalition merely to serve the People. If he truly the person he claims to be, the honourable way is to relinquish his post as the DCM and let others and in his case let the CM appoints someone else. In politics, experience is not a bigger issue since a politician in office has a number of qualified and experienced civil servants to help him. We have instances where people under the age of 30 are selected to contest in elections just like DSNR himself. Hence, Musa Aman can appoint almost anyone to fill in the DCM quota for Chinese. If he is a capable leader such will not be an issue since as everyone including those in BN says that it is his prerogative to appoint anyone to the state cabinet.

How can we trust politicians since they are not whom they claim to be?
