Our Dearest TDM

Well,well,well...while there are many out there who are bent on criticising TDM, there are still who are looking at him as if he's above all more like a Demi God. During his 22 year old tenure as the one and only Big Boss, none never dared to look up to him and deny his orders to his face since he has ruled the country effectively through intimidation and threats. That is why back then this nation looked peaceful unlike today when the AAB is accused of being a softie.

If he is truly a democratic leader who's willing to listen to differences then again why there was Operasi Lallang? Was it because those opposition leaders had done something dangerously fatal to our security or they had actually been doing the same as today? If it was the latter then totally he was as democratic as he claimed to be when he's in power. While he attacked DSAI of being friendly to Jews he up until today is still courting despots like Mugabe.

Building the new Seri Perdana while the King is still living in a small bungalow was just one examples of his mega project which failed to improve the economy. Watching the King at his small palace where everything was held at the cluttered Balairong Seri is indeed a sad event since a mere PM is having his time at his 'Palace', for sure not all the rooms at Seri Perdana are fully utilised since AAB and his predecessor has grown up children who are living separately as compared to the present Agong.

The Petronas twin tower is another of his way of grandising his tenure but today are they local or bumiputera entrepreneurs making money by conducting their business there? Zilch! The rent they have to pay is much higher than the income they make. Yet another contribution of the Tun.

Why was he having many deputies with the second last was unceremoniously sent to Sungai Buluh? For a rational thinking people, such is an indication that he could not tolerate differences of opinions. Indeed, the late Ghaffar himself was another of his sacrificial lamb since he could not find someone whom he could order around. So far he managed to deplete the nation's coffer but little of it were put into improving the nation's poorest state which by the way is one of the three oil producing states. During his long but unfair administration, the only place where mega projects and vivid changes were visible was the Klang Valley whereas his own state did not received similar treatments.

AAB is not the best but again our thanks to him, we are having a much better freedom a far cry during TDM's time. The freedom we are enjoying right now may be due to AAB's weaknesses but what is important is Malaysians are beginning to live like those in the developed nations at least in respect of freedom of speech. I can't really fathom what will happen if TDM is still in power. He has the audacity of telling us that His Lordship Salleh Abas was sacked because of his letter complaining about the noise from the works done at the Istana. Ironically, the Agong that time was the Sultan of Johor whose attitude TDM argued to erode some of the Rulers power in the 1980's Constitutional Amendments. Now, about 30 years later he hid behind the Rulers for cover. Well, indeed he is a very good leader, won't we agree?

Being human, nobody is above criticism since we are not perfect in anyway thus he should be able to accept criticism since he himself admitted at least during his prayers that he has committed mistakes.

Hopefully, we learn from history of how the Malacca Sultanate was destroyed due to the act of a very opportunistic individual.
