Sabah, Oil, Life Style, People and Leaders

The mention of Sabah twice in the above excerpt really irritates me. I actually intend to write on something else but when I see Sabah being mentioned in a new venture by Petronas to seek and explore new oil sources I decides to pour my heart out on this issue.

The news report is actually on the increase of Petronas' cost to RM200 millions to explore new oil sources around the world. The President said nobody care about Petronas' predicaments instead everyone are clamouring over the new price hike announced two days ago. Who gives a damn about Petronas which has been making billions of excess profits particularly since the oil price started to escalate few years back. Being one of oil producer nation

And now they said they are actively involve in exploring new oil sources off Sabah. Don't the people of Sabah have a share in this new discoveries? Logically we should as they found them within Sabah territory. One more thing, they said they incur 200 millions in cost but they forget that it is in fact their core business, so get on with it but let me remind all of us some who may have forgotten or ignorant about the Petronas Philharmonic Orchestra which costs around 1 million ringgit to maintain. 1 million is a lot of greens. By reducing such cost or disbanding the orchestra which itself brings no benefit to the commoner like us we will certainly benefit by having lower oil price.

While the rich continue to enjoy the rich and famous life style, the ministers included, these bunch of arrogant and inconsiderate people have the audacity to tell the not so wealthy to start changing their life style which of course is prudent but they should at first walk the talk and do not just tell others to change the wasteful life style at the expense of the people the tax paying workers of this nation. They could for instance slash their own salaries, allowances and other itineraries. Instead of letting the government pay for their expenses, they should start paying by themselves.

But sadly this is Malaysia where the people are full of courtesy thus everything will go as usual in a few days time and the wasteful life styles of the people in power at the expense of the poor will continue. While the people in power enjoy their meals in air- conditioned 5-star hotel, the commoner starts to bring their meals from home, start to use the mismanaged public transport while the people in power continue going about their business in oil guzzling vehicles.

Life is not about fairness and justice but the people in power should emphatise by trying or leading simpler life styles instead of showing off since they are actually enjoying the people's money most of the time doing something personal.

" Malaysians will continue to suffer if the leaders continue to waste the people's money"
